Men's Charities
Men’s health is unnecessarily poor. It is reported that 42% of men still die prematurely (before the age of 75). Liver Disease, Diabetes, Prostate Cancer, Testicular Cancer and Bladder Cancer are just a few illnesses affecting too many men. Prevention should be top priority but many times these illnesses sadly exact a devastating toll on men and their loved ones.
Recently the consulting group "Good Scout" performed a study targeting men's charitable contributions based on noticing the nonprofit industry’s patterns of focusing efforts more on targeting females. It uncovered that men are most drawn to organizations that support children and that they respond to appeals that vary vastly from those that inspire women to give back.
“As strong as the response from women can be, over-targeting women causes us to fail to include men,” the Good Scout study noted.
The organization surveyed over 1,500 men across the U.S. from different ethnic, age and social status backgrounds. The result showed 52 percent of those who participated tend to support, or would support, charities that focus on children, Children's causes were the most popular "cause" for men from all age groups.
One take-away is that it appears contributions from all donor types, including male and female sourced contributions, seem to show men-related causes are well behind the donation levels of children's and women's causes. All are equally without a doubt important in their own right but it may surprise some that male focused charities fall short much of the time!
Overall men prioritize their donated time and money on causes relevant to children/ youth, social services, humanitarian and disaster relief, arts and education and church over men specific causes.
Take the time to learn more about the many men's causes and the non-profits that are dedicated to their needs and consider them when you decide on your next worthy non profit you become involved with.
Here is a list of some notable Men's Charitable Organizations. Please feel free to access the blog where we encourage you to suggest additional Men's Charities that are devoted to making a difference.
